How ChatGPT Saves Your Executive Function (ADHD)
“You can always find a distraction if you’re looking for one.”

It’s a no brainer that our minds are constantly bombarded by stimuli and staying focused feels like trying to catch a squirrel with chopsticks.
How can we stay focused in the new and creative land of AI?
First, understand that creative endeavors require an incredible amount of focused attention and effort, so what do we do?
Make tech and AI your ally in the battle against distractions by using technology fighting technology. So, whether you have ADHD or not, it’s time to arm ourselves with the tools we need to take back control of our focus.
As a “Wood Element” person, I live and breathe ideas. My intuition leads the way and I flow with the energy of creativity. But that’s the complete opposite of a “Metal Element” person who is all about keeping their feet firmly on the ground.
So, when I sit down to work, I make sure to harness technology in a way that supports my weaknesses and enhances my strengths. That way, I can actually get some work done instead of just daydreaming all day.
And did you know that AI can help us align our brains and boost our executive function? Mind blown.
The human brain has two features that make focus a challenge:
The ever-present stimulus-driven attention system
Working memory limitations, AKA “where did I put my keys?” syndrome
It’s like a 3-way battle in our brain and nervous system for attention.
We’ve got the sexy arousal, focused, and stimulus-driven attention networks all vying for control.
To win the productivity war, aim for a medium level of arousal and keep focused attention on the tasks at hand.
Efficiency is key and using ChatGPT can be like having a trusty sidekick on your creative journey. No more burnout and no more getting lost in perfectionism.
Here’s a frindendler from Cal Newport’s “Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World,” formula:
Intensity of Focus X Time Spent = Quality of Work
Let’s put this into action and bring our ideas to life!
